Families do not speak one sentence at a time.In early conversations with Mandarin-English families, the recurring problem was not sentence translation. It was exclusion from fast-moving family conversation, especially when one person had to carry the burden of translating for everyone else.TongHe asks whether AI can help families stay naturally connected without passing phones around, wearing earbuds, or leaving one person to translate for everyone.People do not just want better translation.They want to belong in the same conversation.
